Gerald C. Sloat

     Gerald Sloat was born in New York on January 12, 1945. He attended college at the University of Rochester, was a History Honors, pre-law major, and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. Mr. Sloat received a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1969 where he was a member of the Honors Clinic and a Moot Court Finalist. He passed the New York State Bar Exam that year and began practicing at an 11 attorney law firm on Wall Street in New York City. Two years later he moved to Boulder, Colorado.
     Mr. Sloat has been practicing law in Colorado since 1971 and is still admitted in New York. His practice is limited to personal injury law. He enjoys what he does and he cares about his clients, his profession and his

community. Gerald Sloat’s resume reflects his extensive professional and personal achievements and includes information about his memberships, activities, speeches, publications, honors and awards. He is particularly proud of being elected President of the Boulder County Bar Foundation and of being named a Colorado TV News 4 "Hometown Hero" in 1997 after being nominated, anonymously, by one of his clients.
     Gerald Sloat’s office is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor of the Folsom Professional Building in Boulder. His staff consists of 4 paralegals, a Registered Nurse and 3 support staff. His paralegals are knowledgeable about personal injury law and extremely experienced; they have an average of over 15 years of legal and insurance experience and have worked with Gerald in his practice for an average of over 10 years.



    

P. Randolph Nicholson

     P. Randolph Nicholson was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 2, 1954.  He graduated from the University of Connecticut, cum laude, in 1976 with a degree in Business Administration. He attended graduate business school in 1977 and then received a J.D. from the University of Connecticut Law School in 1980. During law school, he served as a research assistant to the head of the Tax Department and received the Prentice Hall Award for Achievement in Taxation in 1980.   
     Following graduation from law school, Mr. Nicholson practiced in a two attorney firm in Eastern Connecticut where his practice consisted exclusively of personal injury and workers compensation matters.

      He moved to Colorado in 1984 and practiced in Denver, Colorado, becoming a partner in the firm Salmon, Godsman & Nicholson in 1989. He joined Gerald Sloat’s firm in Boulder in January 2002. Mr. Nicholson is admitted to the bar in Colorado and Connecticut as well as in both the Colorado Federal District Court and the Federal Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. His practice is limited to personal injury and appellate law. He has numerous published appellate decisions and has served as an amicus appellate brief writer for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. All of this can be found in Mr. Nicholson's resume.
     Mr. Nicholson has been on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association since 1990 and is on the Board of Directors and an officer of Coloradans for Civil Justice.


Ingrid Jenson

     Ingrid Jensen was born in New York and grew up in Santa Barbara, California. She attended college in Nebraska and later worked as a real estate agent in Illinois. She moved to Boulder in 1980 and was employed as a legal assistant, taking paralegal classes at night. She was a co-owner/operator of a paralegal services business and began working for Gerald Sloat in 1985, and has worked with him for the last 19 years. She attends legal education programs on a regular basis and is the senior paralegal at Sloat & Nicholson, PC.

Stephanie Sandler

     Stephanie Sandler was born and raised in the mid-west and attended Kansas University. She moved to Boulder in 1971 and began working with Gerald Sloat in 1977. In the 1980s she was the co-owner of a small business and returned to full time work at the law firm in 1992. She is the litigation secretary at the law firm, a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and attends legal education programs on a regular basis.

Ann Ballard

     Ann Ballard was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. She graduated with an Associate Degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Ann worked in the insurance industry as a Customer Service Representative from 1978 through 1991, and then again used her insurance knowledge in a medical setting beginning in 1997. Ann began working for the law firm in 2000.


    

Susan Orsini

     Susan Orsini was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona. Susan obtained her paralegal certificate from the Denver Paralegal Institute in 1994. While enrolled at DPI, Susan completed her internship at Gerald C. Sloat, P.C. and was hired as a paralegal upon her graduation. She has worked for the law firm since 1994.
